Deidre’s Bio

ALONG THE WAY

Deidre Hughey walks the talk when it comes to living boldly. Raised in Virginia, she survived sexual abuse, neglect and rape and committed herself to a psychiatric institution at the age of 16 with a diagnosis of bipolar depression and a borderline personality disorder with suicidal tendencies. Over the next 10 years, she abused drugs and alcohol, she truly believed that success and happiness weren’t meant for her.

Never giving up, she pushed past all obstacles and settled in San Diego, California. Here, she became the Marketing Coordinator for General Instrument during the development and launch of the first cable modem, the Surfboard. She studied the Bible and was baptized in the San Diego Church of Christ. Deidre fell madly in love, married her husband, Shawn, and began her family with the birth of her sons, Steven and Jacob.

For the next 6-7 years, Deidre and her husband worked with couples on their marriages, taught parenting skills and encouraged the members of various Bible Talk Groups in their faith.

Shortly thereafter, Deidre and her family moved to North Carolina and she began her journey toward speaking, writing and workshop development.

Since then, she helped to launch the small business support system, Love Your Life Again as well as a sales development and online training library, Business Lifeline. Deidre also launched a Social Media Management company, The BUZZ Builder, LLC where she partnered with companies to manage and monitor their social media activities.

But business success just wasn’t enough.

Over time, Deidre had a nagging desire to give back in a more meaningful way and share what she learned along her path. This desire led to her first book, I Am Bound and Determined, which is meant to encourage women to succeed in their lives, no matter what they have in their background. She now realizes that this is where she is going to have the greatest affect on the world and people around her.

She is currently developing a parenting book as well as a book of encouragement and guidance for teens.
